★★☆☆☆

Good Points
The engine sounds great and is extremely smooth. I use the motorway every day to work and spend about 50 mins in the car each way, yet this doesn't bother me as the car is so comfortable and effortless to drive.

Bad Points
Quite a few unfortunately.

General Comments
The BMW Z4 is a nice comfortable car to drive, but far far too many problems have occured with it which has really dented the pleasure of owning the car. My wife has far less trouble with her Peugeot 206 and its 2 years older.
Since I have had the car, both back springs have failed, a reverse sensor, pasanger seatbelt sensor, handbrake assembly, wiper linkage, all failed. Also the coils needed replacing as the engine started to misfire. I certainly did not expect this from a brand new BMW and it has now put me off buying a BMW in the future. The most annoying problem I have with the car is the fact that I need to top up the engie oil every 1000miles. It burns about 1 litre every 2000miles. I drive sensibly and the engine has definately not been thrashed. Where is the oil going. When the engine is breaking and the clutch is depressed the noise as the clutch disengages is really loud and does not sound normal.
