Taking Money off you.
List is to long
I bought a 3 year fixed together product with Northern Rock in 2005 with the help with costs option through an Indepdent Mortgage Advisor, these help with costs ( £750) would not be repaid as long as I stayed with them for 3 years 6 months.
In Febuary 2008 I was told to look else where for a mortgage by Northern Rock as they couldn't of competitive rates - at this point they did not make me aware of clause in my contract that I would have to repay the £750.
When attaining my redemption statement in March after arranging a mortgage else where I noticed the help with costs repayment charge which I questioned as to why this was not higlighted when I was told to look else where for a mortgage. At this point they said it was not there responsibility - and if I have any complaints it should be against my mortgage advisor.
My mortgage was eventually paid off on the 1st May (after having to borrow money to pay the help with costs). When trying to arrange a loan 2 weeks later I have been told that the mortgage is still being shown as a debt on the credit system, and I have to provide a final mortgage statement which Northern Rock have not provided. I requested a final statement and queried why I was not given one - to which I got no answer - they just said they will send one in the post. That was 6 days ago, I have rang them up asking where it is and they have said they have sent it - however they would be willing to send another one 2nd class.
To sum Norther Rock up I would have to say they have a very poor customer ralations team - some poor advisors on the phones who do not provide you with informations the FSA state they should (eg help with costs option needing to be repaid when they tell you to look else where) - and to finish it off take £250 to close your mortgage and wont even send a final statment and when you request one are only prepared to send it 2nd class (which might not even get to you).
Don't suppose anyone can offer any advice on this situation?
