Excellent colour depth, good detail, very smooth shades. Very good quality and intuitive remote. Great facade. No reliability problems. CD sound seems very good but not as good as a dedicated CD player for the same money.

I have had my Philips DVD-Q40 for three years now and believe the Faroudja chip makes the difference. I intended to upgrade it to a more expensive machine but when trialling them found that the Phillips was far superior. Even the retailer told me that I would have to spend double what I paid for it to get a better machine.
