poor white balance

software conflicts with Adaptec CD writing

General Comments

The autowhite balance on the Kodak Easyshare DX4530 can not faithfully photograph orange or yellow subjects. The software has no color correction capabilities. The drivers are not available without installing the software that conflicts with CD writing.

The camera is not suitable for serious photographers. Lack of controls, marginal results, and software conflicts make this my last Kodak purchase.

The \'quality\' of a picture is not always equal to the quality of the camera, but allways reflects the quality of the photographer...

The oranges on my orange tree tilt the white balance so that the background is purple. Yellow blossoms create the same effect. Other software must be used to correct for this. The white balance also \"hunts\" for the correct balance.

These features cannot be overriden, and there are no deeper menu options. My wife seems to find it OK for her use.

Kodak digital cameras have a reputation of having excellent white balance. maybe your camera has a defect. Kodak cameras do tend to have a "kodachrome" look to them. All pro reviews I have seen consider their white balance to be above average.

I am afraid that this camera was designed by a marketing person to be too simple. The results are that photos of orange subjects will have a very strange color balance. No autumn colors, pumpkins, or car shows - so this camera has been of no use to me. This Kodak has no over-ridding controls. I have owned and enjoyed other Kodak digital cameras - but not this one. My Cannons have been a dream.
