The size and power ratio of this gun is outstanding. For a rifle that is about the same size as an R-7 \ HW30 you get the benefit of 15-16 fps. Also, this is the only carbine sized .25 caliber I know of that is effect (over 600 fps). Lastly, no spring twang from the start. No need to send a brand new gun off for a tune that costs several hundred dollars.
The fit and finish along with the trigger and safety are less than perfect. Also, the bore in the .25 caliber is under sized and will rule out most pellets. Webley misquotes will fit, most others are not even close. Recoil is a little stiff, but this is the trade off of light weight. It is not a gun for FT, but doesn't pretend to be either.
I really enjoy this gun. The only down side is you have to act like it is just ok with the air gun snobs out their. Yes, I have had HW airguns for almost 30 years now, but this is just a neat little package that allows me to over look its flaws. While my professionally tuned HW97 will shoot circles around it, I still shoot the Lightning more. Just don't tell anyone.
