General Comments

I took out a motorcycle insurance policy with them purely because they were the cheapest for me (first motorcycle, 0 NCB).

I was desperate to get out on my bike as I had paid the insurance in full and was ready to go! I waited and waited for the insurance cover note to come through the post but to no avail. After a few days I phoned them and their rep said that they had posted it 1st class 3 days prior, but they would send out another one 1st class immediately.

A week later still no cover note. I was then pulled over by the police as they had done a scan on my number plate and the insurance database didn't have me on it. They presumed that I was uninsured. I explained that I had taken out the insurance and paid in full two weeks earlier, after a real grilling they let me go but I had 7 days to produce a valid insurance certificate.

I contacted 1st quote for the 3rd or 4th time in two weeks explaining the situation. They sent out a cover note recorded delivery, it did arrive but it stated that I was only covered from the day it was posted which was after I was stopped by the police. I phoned again and waited on hold for 20 mins or so (again). This time they said that they would fax me a cover note immediately. I waited by the fax machine for half an hour and still no fax. So I phoned back and spoke to a very rude rep this time, when I explained the situation (again) and that I needed the certificate immediately by fax he hung up on me. I phoned back again, this time a very helpful woman did fax me the certificate but this one now had todays date at the start date.

I immediately wrote an email to complain and sent it to the highest sounding person on their website. I got a phone call back and the chap then finally sent me a certificate with the correct start date which I could then produce at the police station. So five incorrect certificates later I got a correct faxed copy. I never did get a hard copy of the certificate so when it came to taxing the bike I had to do it online.

I have just renewed with Quinn-direct and in order to prove my 1 years NCB I phone 1st Quote to get a letter to confirm this on the 8/5/08. I'm still waiting....
