Alright we flew emirates Auckland, Dubai stopover, Athens, Vienna, Bangkok stopover, Auckland. Our problems started when we checkin for our Dubai/Athens leg. After checkin us and our luggage was shifted to another counter where we were informed that we had to stay another night. You guessed it yet another overbooked Emirates flight. To cut a long story short we were coerced and bullied into accepting an options ticket as compensation. At the time we given a myriad of stories as to the validity and use of the ticket because it appeared to us to be for Dubai/Athens and cause we live in NZ of no use. We signed on the basis that the options ticket was fully transferable to another route. We have since established is not the case so have a ticket that is of no use. At the time we were simply given a lot of misinformation.
Once we realised that the ticket was of no use and with a day to spare in Dubai we decided to use the complaint service. It goes like this, go to the counter get attended to by the most junior, the the next, then the next and so on till you get to a supervisor who informs you they do not have the authority. Onto the next counter same, same pattern here. At all times you are treated as a second class citizen by rude and ignorant staff who have no conception of customer service. The best comment I received was "excuse me sir, sit over there as a customer might come to the counter". A blinding thought occurred to me at this stage that perhaps I was not "a customer". In the end we submitted a written complaint and you guessed it no response.
Since being home have tried to contact them by email but guess what the emails keep on getting bumped back so no way to contact them. Does their complaint department exist? The best way to describe the whole debacle is a total comedy show with an image that is of incompetence and ineptitude.
We would not recommend them to anyone.
