I have been a valued customer of Halifax for many years. As soon as something goes wrong though i.e you become a victim of fraud, you find out that their service is absolutely appalling. First of all I have always been in credit yet they let me go over £800 overdrawn, put a hold on my account whilst I was abroad and didn't so much as give me a phonecall to let me know. When I found out myself what had happened I cancelled my card and was told all payments would be made as usual and no further monies could be taken, I was told it could take 3 or 4 weeks before the investigation was resolved. I got home only to find all my UNPAID bills waiting for me which I had to sort out (with no money) . Over a week later I am still left with no card, therefore no way of paying anything, I've been told numerous times one would be sent out but now they tell me they cannot even send me a card out as the account is now in minus credit. I finally get hold of a statement only to see that the fraud team have let another two transactions happen after the date of which the card was cancelled and I was reassured that would be the end of it. Why didn't they close the account immediately? Why didn't they open me a completely new account immediately? Why have they not done things all along what they said they would? Why did they let me go four times over my agreed overdraft when I have hardly ever gone into it, let alone go over it. Why is it that nobody out of the 40 or so phonecalls I have had to make seem to make a difference? Why do managers pass on the problems only to tell you there is no way they can prioritise anything due to systems and I.T problems. Why is it that Halifax can completely ruin your life, leaving you without car insurance, therefore a car to get to work, therefore a job, accommodation, I could be cut off from all utilities, all due to their negligence. If you don't want to become a victim of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in the history of my whole life, then DON'T bank with Halifax. The only extra thing they give you is unnecessary stress, aggravation!
