General Comments

I had a Ford Escort S2 e plate series 2, Full chromed out engine bay, Full 2.5inch s/s exhaust, super chipped, dump valve, Lowered, no rust, Bad boy bonnet, pace intercooler, swirlpot, 90 spec bumper, interior and spoiler, clifford full closure alarm & immobiliser. I bought my car with all the things mentioned above done to it & with service history and 12monts m.o.t for £1800. These cars are fun to drive & everybody turns thier heads when they hear the dumpvalve go off. Girls love it and the car is just a good laugh. Only problem is that thier too many problems associated with these cars. I decided to sell it in the end & kept my Astra GTE 16v instead. A lot more relilabe & less costly (I think).

tuning a turbo can be a bit of a minefield, but this applies not just to escorts but any turbo car (renault 5 especially) but if the engine is tuned sensibly and properly then the car should mostly retain its reliability, i.e. if someone ups the boost to 5 million psi but still runs the standard turbo/pistons then things will start to go bang. with rs turbo engines the general rule is that anything much over 200bhp is a bit much for road use, and if you want that kind of power then you will either need to re-bore to 1900 or, better still, a full on zvh conversion using the stronger zetec block (preferably from an early mondeo as you can keep the origional pistons to be machined) and cvh head.
