As a usability consultant, I have to say that usability is not that bad. I am an older user and managed to work my way around the phone with very little reference to the manual. It is quite an intuitive phone. The pros are the quality of the camera and the browsing capability. I have just downloaded googlemaps and was very impressed that I can use this phone as a navigation system.
Bad Points
Cos are the clunky manner in which one has to input text. I previously had the Sony Erikson p990i where you simply wrote on the screen. Texting takes 3 times longer now! Also, the touch screen isnt as responsive as it could be which can be a little annoying.
General Comments
I have read reviews that state the Samsung F490 is a phone for the younger generation quite simply because of its high tech functionality. Well, I am aged 40 and I disagree. On the whole, I am impressed. I was toying with the idea of getting an iPhone but was put off because of it not having MMS and not being available with vodafone.
