Good Points

Style icon on 2 wheels with lots of attention from bikers and non bikers alike. Uses the well tried Bonneville engine. Bikers and non bikers alike all appear to enjoy it being around. Its a user friendly bike.

Bad Points

Not a performance machine so don't expect lightning speeds. No wind protection. Not a tourer. Needs lots of polish to keep it in tip top form.

General Comments

The Triumph Scrambler is an icon. It evokes images of Steve McQueen who was a keen off roader. It also pulls peoples memories around 'The Great Escape' and in the bike club I am a member of much humour was made of trying to jum barbed wire fences. However, all this aside it is a comptent machine that could be used for mild off roading (gravel tracks). It is really a Bonneville low tuned to suit a sedate but stylish procession through city streets or rural back roads. It will cruise easily at 70 mph but the wind blast would preclude higher autobahn speeds. There is a small fly screen available which may take a small amount of wind blast. This machine though is about image, it will do all you ask of it, but don't ask of it what it was not designed to do. It is a head turner and with the Triumph off road pipes it can be heard as well. Usefully you can fit a centre stand but this is an after market accesory. I like the bike, but I bought it because I love the ruffty tuffty scrambler image as well as being familiar with the Hinckley Bonneville. This is a capable and fun machine which if you like the 60s era is one to definitely to consider.
