The abilities of the car exceed even good drivers, the car is forgiving of poor skill application. Extremely fun to drive. Very nimble, the aging technology easily defeats younger newer vehicles.
Expensive to repair and not well understood by mechanics. Insurance can be difficult to obtain, even with clean license.
The Porsche 944 Coupe 83-88 is the best handling vehicle I've ever driven, as the son of an owner of a vehicle dealership, I've had a better "cross sample" than average to base that opinion on. The body style still looks exotic many years later and the build quality is excellent and holds up to scrutiny, even when compared to newer techniques. The brakes are superb and perform way better than the profit driven rubbish found on production vehicles of 2004. Gas mileage is awesome considering the performance of the vehicle. Unlike the boxster and 911, my 944 can fold the rear seat and take luggage and gear on weekend getaways, try that in any other Porsche, especially if you have a lady who likes to pack!!!!
