Cheap, nice decor, food ok
I'm not sure this is an entirely fair review as i went for a meal at China Palace on Wednesday night and the staff were out numbering the customers which I always find a little off putting... but then it was Bedford on a Wednesday night and there are few, if any, restaurants in the area that can fill to capacity at that time in the week.
The restaurant itself is a lovely place, and well decorated. The only downfall on the building is its location which is in a no car zone so you need to park someone around the town centre and walk in which isn't a great thing to do if you have a nice car and don't want to leave it in a risky area. But enough about my problems with car thefts and back to the food... which was lovely. China Palace is an all you can eat, it has slightly less choice in its range of dishes than some other all you can eats in Bedford but for £10 a head for adults Monday-Thursday you really cant complain. Especially when there is crispy aromatic duck on the menu! The food seemed fresh and tasted nice. My dining companion commented that the spicy chilli beef (i think that was the name of the dish) wasn't as spicy as perhaps it should be but that really was the one and only complaint... and it wasn't really a complaint as much as an opinion.
It did strike me that the place may have seemed as empty as it was as there were so many tables and chairs packed in, which could make the place seem over crowded when full to capacity - but I am yet to see it under those circumstances.
The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient, drinks were quickly refreshed and not over priced (as they often are at buffets as it is where they make their money back on the food), and I would happily return there again.
