General Comments

Saw this LG RI-28CZ10RX widescreen television set in Argos (UK store) for a mere £299, with stand, and FREE DVD PLAYER!! A good DVD player too, not your £50 ones. Needless to say, bought it instantly.

Luckily the picture is fine, nothing outstanding with normal TV, but DVD's look ace. But, when in 4:3 or the useful 14:9 mode the sides are squashed a bit. Nothing you can't live with though.
Oh and while scart socket 1 is RGB, Scart 2 is composite, and terrible. S-video is not perfect either. Though this was easily overcome by routing my DVD, Video, and cable scarts into a cheap combiner block so they all go to scart 1.
LG also do a very nice guarantee, £26 for an extra 2 years cover (3 years total), even for accidental damage!

The previous reviewer was spot on with the squashing-at-the-edges comment. And personally I find it difficult to live with. Useful to know that it is an inherent problem and not just my TV, though.
