I thought Leona's voice was magnificent on some of the tracks and I believe she was highly unique, not following the Mariah-esque style or the Whitney-orientated tracks. An overall success, with easy breezing tracks like "Whatever It Takes", a masterpiece for a radio blazing track on a sunny Sunday morning driving through a posh area. "Take a Bow", a record which I am personally infatuated with, very moving and very true. "Footprints in the Sand", a tear-jearker special with extraordinary, powerful lyrics leaving a tingling sensation.
I believe the album had too many ballads, which were great for her fans who watched her on 'The X Factor', her vocals and the lyrics were exceptionally flattering, but I'd of loved to have seen a bit more dance-esque, club-ready tracks which could garner more sales. I'm happy with the US tracks of 'Forgive Me' and 'Misses Glass'. I believe the worst tracks are: "Here I Am", a relative copy of Carey's successful "Hero" but still different. The other song is: "A Moment Like This", the copy of Kelly Clarkson's original and yet Leona should've been deserved a much stronger, resilient track.
Leona Lewis, Spirit is an excellent debut for such a high-octave ranged female. She is sure to do well with the tracks consisting on the album. The soul-filled "Whatever It Takes" and the beach-reminiscent "Angel". An Americanized sound with a "We Belong Together-like" success of Mariah's song back in 2005. Lewis is sure to have a 2008 end-of-the-year track with these belters and slow jamz.
