General Comments

I bought this Pacific 1001 DVD Player for £34.00 from Asda.I have the 1002 that I wanted to use as a CD/MP3 player to replace my knackered CD player(this way was cheaper than buying a new Cd player). The 1002 is a terrific unit, so I was sceptical about whether the 1001 could match it. I needn't have worried as I feel that the 1001 has a slightly better picture and I don't need to keep going into the menu to change from PAL to NTSC as on the 1002, it's automatic on the 1001. The lack of LCD is not a problem as it has on screen display, and actually looks better for it. Coupled with a 3 year no quibble guarantee what more could you ask!

Which branch of Asda sells this model? All the shops I've tried are selling the 1002W.

I\'ve just come back from ASDA (Bedminster Bristol) and noted several Pacific DVD 1001 for sale at £29.84 !!

Should I buy or should I compare it to the following also stocked at ASDA:

    Pacific DVD 1002W £39.97
    Thomson DTH211E £59.98
    Dual DVD858 £54.97
    Philips DVD625/051 £69.97
    Toshiba SD130E SB1 £69.85

Ideally, I would like the following:

Multi-Region out of the box (or hack)
    Macrovision disable hack

    Thank you.

Have now bought a 1001 (it came into my local store and was sold out within a day!) I\'m very pleased with it. I believe it is multiregional without needing a hack (but haven\'t any disks to try out). Anyway you can try it out for 28 days and then take it back if you don\'t like it.
