Superbly comfortable, powerful, economical long distance vehicle. Best car we have owned.
New tyres every 30,000. Local dealer is very helpful but overall lack of knowledge and experience means that they may not know the cause of a problem and take a long time to sort it. Impossible to make any sensible contact with Renault UK central staff.
I have done 95,000 miles in 02 registered Renault Vel Satis 3.0 diesel, bought at 6 months old. An intermittent "rattle" or quiet "grating" sound has developed at low revs/speeds that is not the engine or gearbox and Renault are not sure of the cause: may be "mechanism for the A.C." Obviously they have no idea, It is not getting worse and I await developments. Otherwise very few problems over 5 years. Any suggestions? Has anybody else experience of this car over 100,000 miles?
