Time taken for set up
Lack of communication
Open an account with Natwest 3 weeks and 2 days ago via telephone banking. All was confirmed over the phone and I was asked to take my passport to a local branch to confirm my identity and then all would be sorted with a week or so (10 working days is there time scale).
Went into the branch and told that what I had been told ... my reply was a blank stare? They had no idea what I was on about, but the nice lady took a copy of my passport and sent it off (even called me later in the day to confirm). 2 Days latter I got a letter asking for either a wage slip (with companies address on) or some other rather random forms of ID (not a copy of my passport or even a statement). So the same day I sent them a wage slip with a signed letter from my HR manager with the companies address.
3 weeks later and still heard nothing ... call after call to the admin line and the say that the application is still pending. During this, last Friday, myself and my partner went to the Natwest branch to open a joint account. My partner has banked with them for 8 years, I took along my passport, a online statement (which I know is not usually excepted) a provisional license, a letter that Natwest sent to me for my other application and my wage slip ... after 10 mins I was told that I needed either a utility bill or some random Tax Form?!! I had to request a statement from my current bank to be posted to me.
Anyway, last Friday my partner and I go into the branch and set up the joint account. The nice fella then says that he could contact us that evening with our account number and sort code! Excellent as we have many direct debits to set up! No call that evening ... we call last sat and leave a message ... no call ... leave a message Monday morning ... no reply ... leave a message Tuesday morning ... no reply! I asked to speak to a manager who apologises and promises to get me a call this morning (today as I am typing and still no call by the way). So later last night I called Natwest about my own account ... the woman tells me that a letter has gone out regarding my wage slip! They need me to get a wage slip with my MIDDLE name on and not just my first and last!!!!! I am annoyed to say the least!
It seems to me that Natwest is the only bank who go to such lengths to make life difficult! My friend set up an account with online banking in 5 days!
