Good Points

The hotel has very friendly staff, who can't seem to do enough to help you.

Bad Points

Hotel could do with a little refresh in places.

General Comments

My family have been to the Occidental Allegro Abou Sofiane hotel 4 times so far, I think that speaks for it's self! I can not praise this hotel and holiday enough. We have 2 children of very different ages 9 and 15, if it was not prompted we would not have even seen them for Dinner. There was so much to do for both of them. They both made friends very quickly and headed off in their different directions. This is perhaps the main reason we go back again and again, I feel completely safe to allow the children their freedom, the hotel has security guards at every entrance. However not in an over powering way, just safety.
The food reviews I have read I find really difficult to support in any negative way, I am perhaps quite particular when it comes to food, however I have always been able to find a good meal from the amount of food offered. From fresh fish/hot grill/fresh pasta cooked to order. Personally I always come back from my holiday feeling lighter and fresher due to the lack of saturated fats.
I can not comment on the pool area of sunbathing as we spent our time at the beach. On a morning a nice man always helped us set up our sunbeds, and we found to get the exact spot we wanted we needed to reserve beds around 7.30 however if you were not bothered where you wanted to be you could still get beds at around 10.30.
The bar staff around the beach bar were friendly and always busy, however the few times we ventured to the pool bar I found them efficient but not as friendly as the others. The staff in the main bar within the hotel are and have always been great. The first time we came to the hotel within 2 days they knew our order for drinks thereby we didn't even need to ask they had them lined up for us as we reached the bar, since we have been back many times they recognise almost as we walk in. I find there is a difference in the attitudes from staff and that is driven by the way you treat them. Please's and thankyou's never go a miss, remember they are there to serve you but they are not in servitude. It does make a difference honestly. The guys that work generally do in excess of 12 hours a day no stopping 6 or 7 days a week and at a very low pay so tips are necessary for them to make ends meet. I have never felt pressured to tip, but have always thanked people at the end of the holiday with such, which has been appreciated and certainly not expected.
I have been to many different countries and experienced different cultures on holiday and since I have been to Tunisia and the holidays I have experienced there I can honestly say you will never get me to holiday in Europe again. If you want to relax and chill or be active this holiday can provide with as much or as little as you want. Personally a good book on a beach is my idea of heaven and this holiday delivers in abundance.
