The two points I provided are for the price and due to the fact that I did not fly with them.
My grandfather died and I did not wish to travel. It was hard enough contacting them from the U.S., but you can't cancel via their internet support line....in fact...you can't cancel over email...you have to fax a cancellation request to their corporate headquarters and await up to 14 days for their response.
I tried calling but nobody answered - so I tried dialing random extensions and finally got through to someone but they had no customer support department to forward me to.
Finally I gave in and sent the fax. I originally did not want to send a fax because I read of the nightmares people had with trying to cancel flights with RyanAir.
So a month rolled around and no response, no credit to my bank account, etc... so I resent it with a receipt of the original fax and told them I would be forced to take legal action if necessary. No response for a week so I contacted my bank and disputed the charge. One week later I got a response from them:
"Without Prejudice. Dear Mr [my last name],
Following your recent refund application on booking confirmation number [reference number].
On behalf of Ryanair, we wish to convey our sincerest sympathies on your recent bereavement
We confirm that your refund request has been processed to the form of payment used to pay for your booking. Your issuing bank will then take 5-7 working days to process this refund amount back to your account."
...not sure if this will be helpful to anyone but here is the email they sent the letter from: info@frsc.net - but they probably don't monitor incoming emails
Good luck - although I must say they probably have the best deals you can find on inter-European flights - this is coming from someone who planned an 8 day vacation from Boston to London, Ireland and Prague with hotels (all 4 stars), rental cars and flights paid for (for two) at under $1000 total including the flights (granted I had AAdvantage miles) and all taxes.
Cheers!
