Cheap, no twelve month contract, so easy to leave, and very informal.
The main problems at Dunnings are lack of Gym staff and staff training.
During the day there is usually only one Instructor on duty in the Gym, so that if the staff member is on a break, or doing personal training, the Gym is often left unattended.
We actually left the Gym because my 17 year old son had an accident , and couldn't get help because there was no Instructor in the Gym for over an hour. When I complained to the Manager, he said that they can't have staff in the Gym all the time. This response makes one wonder what would happen if someone had a cardiac arrest in their unstaffed Gym?.
At my new Gym, I have a Personal Trainer, and they have told me that they would be immediately dismissed if they left the Gym unattended.
Also while their staff Gym are qualified, they are not REPS registered, and so are not required re-tested annually to update their skills, or engage in continuous professional development. So this places a question mark over the quality of tuition at the Gym
Dunnings Mill is really the Easyjet of the fitness world. It's cheap and therefore popular, but you have to make up your mind about what is important to you.
