Its a very smart rifle, pinpoint acuracy, power regulator really works great and the side lever cocking system is superb.
Can load more than one pellet in the chamber if you forgot you already cocked the lever and i would have liked to have had an interchangeable air bottle.
I've had the Air Arms S410 Xtra FAC Side lever 177 caliber model for about three months now and shot about 3000 pellets so far which I think is enough time and shots to give a reasonable review on this air rifle. I myself was checking review after review and specs for a whole month before I came to a final decision. I actually had the chance to try a Weithrauch with thumbhole stock, accurate, but way too heavy and too ugly and a BSA Superten which was pretty accurate but again too heavy and didn't like that cocking bolt system which also made too much noise when recocking.
I have the walnut thumbhole stock version which is one smart looking rifle. It's sleek and it's a bit longer than the standard version, being that it's an Xtra Fac, but that's a matter of taste.
The magazine is very easy to fill and after 3ooo shots it has never jammed once. I bought an extra mag because believe me you need it. You just hate wasting time to refill. The bad thing is that there so expensive, About 30 sterlings.Air Arms should supply 2 with every rifle like Weihrauch does. The side lever cocking system is an absolute dream. It's far more superior that the bolt cocking system.
Filling the air bottle with the new quick lock system is a piece of cake, and the filling adapter has its own filter just to make sure no foreign particles enter the air bottle.
This model has a power controller. On high power you get about 30-35 shots per fill over 330m/s depending on the pellet you're using. I use the H&N 177 match 10.6gr with a little napier lube so speed is less but impact is leathal. On the medium power you can get around 60-65 shots per fill which is where I have it most of the time and noise level is low but any time you need that extra power, its there and believe me it works with a loud crack hehehe(nice)but you can always use a silencer. The lower power you can use for 10-15 meter target shooting which should give you loads of shots but never tried it.
This rifle is as accurate as you can get, just zero your scope correctly and let Air Arms do the rest. Its so accurate 35-45m which is my range of shooting on medium power but also broke a few bottles at 90m on full power.
So an air rifle like this deserves a quality scope to go with it, I use a Bushnell Elite
6-24x40 SF Mildot, which is great. Using just any cheap scope is like driving around in a Ferrari with a Ford Escort engine under the bonnet, you may have the looks but you will never enjoy your car to the full.
The few things I would have liked Air Arms to have paid more attention to is that it's possible to load a second pellet in the chamber, or even all 10 if you like, there's nothing to stop you from doing so.
The second is that I would have preferred to have this rifle with an interchangeable bottle or buddy bottle (again like Weihrauch) instead of carrying around a divers bottle everywhere, which is the reason I had to buy a 3 liter 300 bar diver's bottle to carry around. They actually make one, the MPR version but that even uglier than the Weithrauch.
Overall this is a top class Air Rifle and im glad I made the right decision after all that work.
BUT I would still like to see Air Arms make an S410 rifle with a buddy bottle.
Phewwwww this review came out longer than I expected lol.
