Powerful, accurate, solid feel, no unintentional barrel droop, positive breech seal given it's a side cocker. Good warranty. Easy cocking. Fairly quiet. Nice fit and finish. Little recoil.
Heavy, hard to carry around. Side cock lever is on right which might be a problem for lefties. Hard to insert pellet into extended barrel in breech and pellet can easily fall out into the breech since you cock it with the barrel up. Short stock. Built in barrel droop evident with mounted scope.
The new RWS 52 has a one inch longer stock than the 48 which is a needed improvement. Judging from the extreme elevation adjustment (to the stop) I had to make with my Beeman scope mount, it is evident that there is built in barrel droop which is apparently standard in Europe for use with peep sights in competition. Strange but can be compensated for. Great gun otherwise. Very solid feel, good trigger pull, very powerful and accurate. Bullseyes at 50 yds with scope! Kind of wish I had bought the 52 with cheek plate and 1" longer stock but it's $100 more. I bought the .22 since I suspect it's quieter than a .177 due to the lower speed of a .22 pellet. I mounted a Bushnel Banner scope on top of a 5039 Beeman scope mount which is a very nice setup. Had to pound in the scope stop on the bottom of the Beeman scope mount since there is no corresponding hole in the rifle's scope mount. This is easy to do and recommended by Beeman for mounts like this one. There is a stop screw on the rifle scope mounting plate to keep the scope mount from creeping backwards.
