Build quality, features.
Quite expensive but good value.
I read Phil Askey's review of the Canon Digital Ixus 300 (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canondigitalixus300/default.asp) and was very impressed by the amount of detail provided and the layout of the review pages. I am even more impressed with the camera. I've had it for two weeks now and have been actively seeking opportunities to put it through its paces. It is an incredible piece of technology. I was looking for a replacement for my circa 1983 Canon AE-1 progam which, with its 35-105 lens is still a fantastic camera but sooooo big and heavy. My wife and I have been doing a lot of travel and it had come to the point where I was spending time locked in a mental debate about whether or not to take my camera! With the Ixus 300, it's never out of reach and the 3x optical zoom plus digital gives me the same telephoto capacity (though marginally reduced quality when digital zoom is used). I took advice and bought the extra battery and a 128Mb card; well worth the extra dollars. Overall I'd give it a 9.5/10 ~ I reserve half a mark because nothing electronic is ever 'perfect'.
