Good Points

Very close to the slopes, good food, comfortable accomodation, great value for money

Bad Points

Easy to walk down into the town for bars and shops, but a little interesting on the way back if the roads are icey.

General Comments

I stayed in the Hotel Himalaia Pas hotel last year, which was my first experience of a ski hotel, having always stayed in Chalets, and always in France. Upon arriving I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness and comfortable surroundings of the hotel bar, and at only £2 per pint I was even happier. We were allocated our room which was on the 5th floor, but easily accessed using the lift that never seemed to breakdown, unlike my experiences in some other hotels. The room was a good size with plenty of storage, perfect for two of us, yet still okay if you wanted three people in there. The bathroom was fantastic, with a full size bath, shower and space to hang all of our ski gear above the radiator so that it was dry in the morning. Breakfast is buffet style, providing everything from Cereals, Fruit, Toast, Bacon, Sausages and Eggs ... plenty to give you a great start to your day. The piste is only 100 meters from the hotel with a 200 meter ski down to a choice of 3 main lifts. Pas De La Casa has about 100km of runs, which should be plenty for anyone, but sits next to Soldeau, which you can ski on a day-to-day basis if you want for about £25 per day.

Getting back to the hotel can be done by skiing down a particular run and stopping 200 metres short of the lifts, then a short 100 metre walk back to the hotel to dump your skis and boots in your own locker.

The hotel also boasts a small swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna, all of which can get busy at times, but never too bad.

Dinner is a buffet affair with salads, vegtables and normally three + main dishes ... again, there is plenty for everyone ... you do have to pay for drinks however.

All in all this is a great hotel at a great price, I would definately recommend it.
