General Comments

In February myself and wife bought different Halvarssons brand jacket and trouser combinations based on their design, fit and feel against other more well known products. My opinion is they fill the quality gap between the run of the mill £100- £120 Condura jackets and higher end BMW rider products, well worth paying the extra £50-79 for the features.

My first use was riding 300 miles on a sports bike in continuous torrential rain at 55-70+ mph in late afternoon, early evening when the temperature was 8-4 degrees. Under these conditions you'll need to use a layer system of a base thermal layer and a very thin fleece top and thermal neck sock underneath the jacket to stay warm. I did get some water ingress at waist level but found that I had left one of the outer pockets unzipped and the conditions were exceptional. If it happened again I would stop and put a light weight over suit on with lots of high viz, unfortunately I forgotten it.

At lower speeds, in dry conditions and warmer (10-14 degrees) you can just wear a tee-shirt or base layer and stay comfortable.

The advantage of the jacket (and trousers) is the quality and the fit which feels excellent there are loads of adjustments to make it fit perfectly. In summer there is plenty of ventilation vents to open and the outlast does a good job to keep your temperature constant. A local instructor bought the same jacket last summer and said that it was remarkably comfortable in the heat with lots of air flow through.

Highly recommended, but for winter riding requires extra thermal clothing.
