Good Points

Excellent handling in all conditions.

Bad Points

The larger wheel size on the Sport model seems to affect the speedo, so you are going slower and not as far as you think. Mine seems about one tenth of a km off for every 10km driven. Not all service centers charge the same prices for the same service. Call around. Honda service is generally excellent, but one I have experienced is incompetent.

General Comments

I bought my Honda HRV Sport Manual 3 door in 2001 with about 20,000km on it. Now, seven years later it has gone 140,000km without a single problem. I service it regularly, according to service recommendations. I have used my HRV in all conditions, from light snow to hot dry dirt roads. No problems ever. It has plenty of zip up most hills, but if they are really steep, 1st is always required. I also use my HRV as a mobile office on the job, letting it idle for long periods with the air conditioner running, even when it's 35 degrees centigrade outside! The exterior and the interior have stood the test of time and conditions well, although some of the rubber around the windows is showing age. They stopped making this car quite a while ago, so you won't find a newish one anymore. Check the service history on the car on Honda One. If there's no record, don't buy it. If general repairs are listed, ask the owner for the receipts so you can check what the issue was. It may be minor, but it will let you know if something major happened to the car. If the owner doesn't have the receipt, you can call the dealer with the details and ask for the repair report.
