Good Points

Well made, sturdy, little pistol.

Bad Points

Crosman could have made the frontsight out of metal and not plastic, and a magazine would be a great improvment instead of a hopper system.

General Comments

I bought the Cosman 338 for my son for xmas 2003, after having bought myself a Gamo P800 not that the P800 is a bad pistol, boy am I green with envy. This little 338 is a cracker, very acurate for a short barrel pistol, nice to hold and easy to use and fires bb's at a fair rate. Its sturdy construstion give you the feel of a real gun and inspires confidence in the shot you take, as you relise that you can't really miss with this pistol. I think that crosman could have made the front sight out of metal rather than plastic which has a tendancy to move from side to side a little, and the way you load the bb's. I feel a magazine would be a great improvment but would also put the price up, I paid £35 for this pistol which was cheap cosidering other pistols, but I also think that the shop that sold it might have put the wrong price on it considering the price on the internet for the same pistol.. I don't think anyone could do wrong buying this pistol it is right on. OK you could also end up with the one that could play up a bit but thats the same with anything you buy.

Glad you like the gun 'Ivan'. Yeah, I get an itch now and again - especially when I see a gun. I'm always itching to shoot!

I didn't realise the 338 had already been reviewed when I wrote mine just before Xmas under the CO2 Pistols heading whereas we're in the Air Pistols section here. Musht be shome mishtake!

I don't know whether Ramsbottom are still selling the 338 separately for £19.95, as in their latest advert they seem to be including it with one of their special offers. Just fantastic value and I've had no problems after 5 capsules. I load 10 BBs at a time as my S&W has a 10-shot magazine so I'm used to that number per session.

    Happy shooting fellow CO2 enthusiast.

Hey Ivan would do you prefer the crossman 338 or the gamo p800?

I like the firing rate and accuracy of the 338,
But you dont need gas cannisters with the Gamo so the Gamo is cheaper to use, but between the 2 I think the 338 is better.
