Seemed professional at the beginning
Awful customer service, inability to open an account
I signed up for a Business Bank Account with Barclays in December of 2007. It is now April 2008 and they still have not been able to get it opened. That is over FOUR MONTHS. I mean seriously.
You would think I had something crazy in my setup plan or something that would be special, but no - I am just a normal contractor with my own Limited Company and I need a bank to put money into and get it out of.
Currently, I call the Customer Support line 2-3 times a week to see how the progress is going. They can't actually do anything since everything has to be done by my Local Business Bank Manager so they leave him a message and tell me I can call back if he doesn't contact me within 3 hours.
I have asked to change managers, I have threatened to close my account, I have even threatened to sue them for stealing my money (they were able to "open" my account and give me a sort code and an account number so I can deposit money, but they aren't able to "activate" my account which would let me transfer money out of it)
At my wits end here. Am just holding on long enough to try to pay my taxes this year and then I am definitely moving to another bank. BARCLAYS IS ENTIRELY POOR! Choose ANYBODY else and you are guaranteed to have a better experience than I have.
