Good Points

Pinpoint accuracy. The favored pistol of our club Trigger pull averages around 40 ounces and is very smooth.

Bad Points

No scope mounts. Not as powerfull as pump-ups like the Crosman 1377 (717 has a better trigger than the Crosman)

General Comments

I belong to a gentlemen's and (yes) gentlewomen's airgun club. Most of us shoot every day. We have a large variety of airguns, but most of us have a Daisy 717 (or the Avanti 747 - a 717 with an adjustable trigger and a Lothar Walther rifled barrel) as our match pistol. At 10 meters quarter inch groups are common from the offhand using stock sights.

I have the 717 and the 1377 and both shoot wonderfully. For the 1377 add a trigger shoe and change the trigger spring. I sell ultra light trigger springs. These two pistols are probably the best air pistol value for the dollar.

you can make the trigger pull on the 1377 very light by replacing it with a weaker spring from the hardware store. and it's nice to install a trigger shoe from crosman. The 717 can also be lightened up by taking out the original spring and smacking the spring with a hammer a few times to compress it a bit. I hated the trigger on the 717 until i did this, now i'll keep the gun.
