Different people dealing with your claim, and not making notes so next time you contact them you have to explain everything again


General Comments

Barclays Home Insurance - After a heavy snow storm last Sunday night, we woke up to inches of snow. Before i left for work i noticed a drops of water coming through my bay window surround. I put a bowl and towels down. When my husband came in from work a little later discovered it was coming from the roof and a coming through heavier as snow was melting and it had started to rain heavy. He phoned Barclays to be put on hold for twenty mins then hung up on. Phoned again spoke to someone who listened. they said someone would be out next day to repair it, we thought great. Short lived, workmen came out said they weren't there to repair it but put some temp filler in, and someone would be out later in the week to repair it. Temp filler did'nt work. 5 days later after numerous phone calls being re -directed to different companies. several heavy bouts of rain. Our sitting room ceiling coming down, carpet soaked, bedroom walls and carpet soaked. Worn out with sleepless nights getting up emptying buckets and changing towels trying to limit the damage. We were then informed at 9pm last night (Fri) that they would not be repairing our roof as it has been caused by wear and tear. I said they have told me from Tuesday someone would be out later to repair it. I informed them that it was storm damage and everything was ok before the snow storm last week, and that we were sitting here with water pouring through our sitting room ceiling. Told they would call back they did and said someone will come out and make ceiling safe which they did a workman came poked big holes in it to let the water come out now even faster. Workmen will also come tomorrow and do another temp repair.
Workmen came put more filler on, dont know until it rains if going to hold. Very angry all this could have been avoided if repaired properly or if they had told me on tue we were not covered. Have to wait until Monday now and another lost days work, to contact them and try to resolve situation because out of hours is to stressful. Will keep you posted on Barclays response
