Paid £804 for 1 weeks half board for 2 people which included an extra payment of £154 for a so called superior room with balcony and seaview. The superior room, although large was in need of a revamp. The seaview was partially obscured by trees and the first floor balcony looked onto a petrol station to one side and a bus stop to the other side. The fumes from the petrol station and the constant noise meant sitting out was unpleasant. Beneath the balcony was the parking place for the venues on the opposite side of the road. Cars parked there with windows open and music thumping at late hours and the road was extremely busy and noisy. Having read other reviews, I note that I am not alone in my views on problems relating to the balconies. I also read that someone had only paid £125 for a weeks half board in the same hotel which is less than the £154 supplement which we paid. We felt that to charge an extra £154 was unjustified under the circumstances. However, on complaining to Thomson's customer services, we met with the same uncaring attitude as some of the other reviewers have encountered. Two of my letters in fact went unanswered. We do not intend to use Thomsons again in the future.
