Cheap, can bake a decent white loaf

General Comments

This Kenwood BM250 is a cheap breadmaker and if you are looking to bake the odd white loaf then it's fine. But I've had two of these and bake every day. After a year the first one stop generating any heat and was replaced within warranty, while the second lasted 14 months and packed up with the identical fault - giving me the perfect excuse never to buy a Kenwood breadmaker again. The lid is poorly fitting, the buttons lose their printed symbols within a couple of weeks, and the display gives no indication of what you are baking except for a number that you have to cross check with the instruction manual or remember. As soon as you bake wholemeal bread or any speciality bread then things get disappointing.

I've just bought last year's £99 model by Panasonic, and the difference in quality is clear to see. Already I am baking perfect wholemeal loaves and fruit loaves, and will be trying Naan bread this afternoon. Do yourself a favour if you're serious about regularly baking bread and buy a Panasonic .
