Size/space - one of the biggest 4x4's on the market.
Performance good once moving - Diesel gives great low rev power. V.capable on rough terraine.
Great looks and plenty of extras (SVE model)
Towing capability 3500kg
Diesel a bit noisy until warm - then OK.
Leather seats light grey - not very practical!
My final choice was between a Patrol and a Shogun. The Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 won as it is more of a straightforward 4x4 thouroughbred - showing in its offroad capability and towing capacity (3500kg) - required in this case for towing boats.
Performance from a standstill is not great but moving accelaration is surprisingly good - and at low revs. Top speed is 106mph - not the 99mph stated in the brochure.
Great value for money - the SVE has loads of extras including leather upholstery, aircon, 6cd. Reverse sensors are an invaluable cost option!
The diesel engine is a bit noisier than the Shogun and the Shogun definitely has the edge with on-road performance.
Wasn't keen on the Patrol Automatic version - Shoguns tiptronic far superior.
