Quick response.
Renewal quote was higher than my initial quote 12 months ago.
I put a call into Green Flag Breakdown a few days ago after the front nearside tyre on my car had a blowout whilst driving (luckily I was just setting off from traffic lights).
After the car limped to a side road, I called Green Flag to arrange a mechanic to come out (having never changed a wheel I felt it safe to get a trained professional to do it just in case I got it wrong and caused more damage).
I explained the issue to the operator on the phone, who was keen to go through the details of my car (I have renewed my membership only in the last two weeks, and my car hasn't been modified in that time...).
Quite rightly, I was asked if I had passengers (I didnt), because I would have got priority.
The call took 5 minutes in total, including explaining my location. I received a text confirming the estimated recovery time and the company who would be coming out (it was outsourced to a local garage).
The mechanic arrived about 35 minutes later, and he sorted out the tyre (having done a quick check for other car damage in case the blowout was a sign of something more serious).
To be honest I can't complain about the service I received. OK, the renewal quote was higher than my initial quote last year, but I could argue that it is better to be safe than sorry. The Law of Averages must guarantee that the day after you cancel your breakdown cover, you'll need it. I would rather pay 80 quid and feel safe than not pay 80 quid and need a PHD in vehicle mechanics!
