Very deceptively powerful engine. Everyone thinks its a family car, then you roar past them with raw power from mighty mo. I love the sound that my stick shift S40 SE engine makes at low gear when I growl past Z4's & M3's.
I am in Switzerland and the Volvo S40 is also a great ski car. Flip down the opening in the back seat and easily put in two sets of carving skies and we are off with the front wheel drive up snowy mountain roads. I bought my used 1999 model at low cost and did it just for this graduate student who wanted to learn how to ski. Its probably her that makes this car very dear to me.
