We booked our holiday with First Choice and after paying it off over a period of 1 year we made the final payment. A few days letter (surprise surprise) we got a letter back telling us that our hotel would be the epicentre for construction of a new aqua parc and that we would have to endure heavy machinery on site from 8am to 8pm. They offered to change to another hotel but this would cost extra, no concessions. We demanded our money back and were told they would refund it straight away, so we booked with Thompson instead. A month later I received an angry call from my landlord to say we had not paid our rent. Turns out that the First Choice holiday had indeed been cancelled but the money had not been refunded. After numerous lengthy premium rate calls asking for the money back, and after enduring obstructive and antagonistic staff, I eventually got hold of the direct number for the accounts department. Eventually we think that we have got the money back, but no apologies, explanation or reimbursement for bank charges etc. Never again!
