Speed, handling, low weight, midrange (for a 600), it's a Honda.
Bad Points
No slipper clutch or gear indicator like rivals, standard screen too low.
General Comments
The Honda CBR600RR7 is awesome. Had mine since September '07 and have had a blast.
Quick and handles well. Not being biased but there's not really anything bad to say about it. Ok, maybe after a couple of hours on the motorway you want to stop but who buys these things for touring anyway?
Even managed to get 155 miles before reserve light the other day!
I'm 6ft tall and not built like a coathanger but it's still comfy for me. Only after about 120 miles does my butt start to complain, after which I've either arrived at where I was headed or have stopped for petrol.
Haven't taken it on track cos I wouldn't be coming home if I did but it's pretty much all you need in this country. How many 1000cc riders actually rev out each gear up to 170mph? Not all that's for sure.
I've listed lack of slipper clutch as a bad point cos every other 600 has one but you only really need one on track so unless you ride like a loony, you won't miss it. Standard screen is a bit low but that's easily rectified with about £50 and 5-10 minutes with a screwdriver.
The only other recent 600 I've tried is the GSXR-600 and that was brilliant but you had to cane it to make progress. Went for the Honda cos it just felt so right.
Great bike

on 30th Jul 2008Now had the 600RR7 for almost 11 months now and still love it. A couple of months ago I fitted a Scorpion carbon can and link pipe, R&G tail tidy and took the pillion pegs off. Looks amazing now. Went for carbon can because the bike is white and black and it goes well. Tyres were way past their best so fitted Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. I honestly can't come up with enough superlatives to describe these tyres. They are fantastic! Quick to warm up, grippy and good feedback. So confidence inspiring they might get me into trouble. Roughly 1500 miles on them and not showing a great deal of wear. A little on the shoulders but that's to be expected. These tyres are perfectly suited for this bike and should be standard equipment. I use the bike every day, about 4200 miles so far and it's been perfect. Wouldn't mind an '08 Fireblade though. If I had a spare £9000 I'd order one today.
