Bad Points
At first I was a little disappointed with this phone as I felt Samsung had tried there best to pick out competitors best aspect's and just add them all to one thing without trying anything new. But, after getting used to this phone it growed on me and has lead me to argue this is the best phone there is on the market at the moment.
General Comments
When I first got the F490 I was a little disappointed as I was expecting it to have a WOW factor right from the start with the new touch menu technology it has, and for me I wasn't amazed at first, at all.
Don't get me wrong I was happy with it, it offered everything a phone has to offer, for example I had the G600 before it, however it lacked 3G, I've had the n90, however it lacked looks and cool technology like the touch screen. However, the f490 seems to have everything a phone has to offer without lacking anything... but, even though this is the case, I still couldn't help feeling that what it had to offer was nothing spectacular, nothing to rave about, it left me feeling the phone is not 'new' as it simply has just involved all the latest aspects of other phones into one...
Then as I started to get used to using this phone on an everyday basis, that is when it started to grow on me.
The weight of the phone for me is one of the most positive things, as far as I am aware it's slightly lighter than the G600, slimmer too, yet still very easy to hold, unlike the n90 in my opinion. Then I got used to the phone I started to realise the amazing high resolution screen, when considering the samsung f490 screen has touch controls it actually starts to amaze you the quality has not dropped but increased in resolution. The camera also lives up to the Samsung's 5 mega pixel, which amazed me with the G600, but in my opinion that is all that phone had to offer, this samsung f490 has so much more.
One of the most helpful factors this phone has had to offer though for me is the compatibility, as I am someone who is also taking photos and videos I have always been looking for a phone that is compatible with every technology there is on a computer so I can easily edit and manage my media on the computer. The f490 offer WMV, Mpeg and every other format I have tried to use.
Everything is also simple and easy to use on the phone, for example the speed of being able to navigate to any part of the phone is excellent, and previously with touch screen phones I have found this a problem as I have had to keep clicking the screen due to not registering, at first this was also a problem with the f490 but after long time use the technology starts to become second nature and I find this one of the leading aspects of the phone, which is great considering this is what samsung are advertising!
The final point I want to make is about the battery life, I have always been pleased with the Samsung's battery life, the G600 was the best phone I have had for this aspect, as I have been frustrated in the past with the useless Nokia Batteries in my opinion.
In fact when thinking about it, after long term use of the phone, it actually, by far, the best phone I have so far had. Not too expensive when considering it's competitors, yet also has everything other phone has to offer, and more, as other competitors as far as I am concerned are lacking in at least something, 3G, touch screen, weight.... This Samsung f490 is perfect, and I well recommend it to anyone!
