Good Points
Price, price, price!!!
Modern look with lighted volume control
Bad Points
No Power ON/OFF button on a remote control.
Manual doesn't say what each function is really doing.
Unit's display directed down makes invisible top part when unit is located below TV.
General Comments
Curtis DVD 5038 is great for the price you pay.
It looks very cool and it has most features like (zoom, angle, 2.1/5.1, component out, multiregion, NTSC/PAL,...).
You can avoid most so called problem by changing setups:
- DTS sound distortion by setting
"Treble Boost" to Off
"Bass Boost" to Off
- Sound hiss, statics by
changing speaker wires to more expensive
(it would cost more than you paid for DVD5038)
keep speake wires as far from TV as possible
- connecting DVD5038 to VCR to TV problems
most high end DVD players, TVs do not allow to connect DVD to VCR directly or via TV because of copy protection
