General Comments

Es Cana is a lovely family friendly resort , set in a small bay nothing is too far away from the Miami Apartments. You can walk about 30m from the apts directly onto the beach. Bed hire and parasols are available there for a small daily charge.
The apartments themselves are of a good standard, from previous reviews some people seemed to be expecting 5 star quality. Air con on our second visit in 2006 wasn't working quite as well as our first visit in 2005 . That was our main gripe as apartments can get very warm during peak summer months.
The views from the upper floors are fantastic over the bay and into the med. If you are lucky enough to go during the first 2 weeks of July you might catch the fiesta which ends with a spectacular, and I do mean spectacular, firework display around and over the bay.
Other facilities within the rooms are the same as other apartments elsewhere of this star rating. Kettle, microwave, small cooker rings, sink, two sofa beds in lounge area with patio doors onto balcony. Large comfortable bedroom with two single beds which are pushed together to make a double, could do with more pillows. Good quality dressing table in bedroom and reasonable sized wardrobes(safe in room at cost). Very dark though, due to small shuttered windows in the bedroom, but this is common of Spanish type buildings. Bathrooms were nice, toilet, bidet, small bath with shower. Towels changed regulary. Beds made daily and changed about once a week.
Reception staff are very polite and helpful. Full use of Miami hotel facilites are available and is situated about 50m away.
The pool at the apartments is clean and fine, plenty of beds available and no real mad dash to claim them in the morning, although you may struggle if left till after 10am. The local area has a great variety of restaurants and bars. The Parrot restaurant next to the beach was outstanding for steaks. There are a few other beach front places which are lovely to have a meal at in front of the sea.
I would highly recommend the Italia Pizzerria at the start of the hill on the main street. Possibly one of the best Italian places we have tried anywhere, very welcoming scicilian host and first class food. All served at reasonable prices.
If you are looking for cheaper but filling food try the Mar Vent next to Charlies Bar on the front. There are Chinese places which were ok (nothing more) and all the usual type of resort eateries. For lively entertainment try Charlies bar, quizzes, bingo, compere, modern bar/ club place and also has nightly professional entertainers then a dj to round off the night. There are numerous British type pubs which put on similar stuff. Popeyes is also a good big pub although not as busy as Charlies bar. There are a couple of fun fairs for younger kids in high season also. The beach at Cala nova is 5 mins from the apts and has good waves in that cove. Buses and taxis' to other parts of the Island are readily available, but try the ferries from the bay to Santa Eulalia and Ibiza town etc, very good value. We are well travelled and have stayed in all ranges of accomodation throughout the world, Es Cana holds it's own... enjoy..
