Good Points

Very good value for money. Deal with claims quickly without any quibble.

General Comments

My family have used Direct Travel Insurance since 2003. They have been SO good that I have never felt the need to look elsewhere. I originally found them via the internet when choosing for the cheapest (hey, we ALL hope we don't have to claim!). Was VERY impressed at the price - it was way, way under what other companies were charging. And the catch? Absolutely nothing!! The first holiday we had covered by them, my daughter came down with the cryptosporadia virus that had plagued Alcudia, the day before we were to fly home! They had to admit her into hospital as she was so ill and dehydrated. I had to fly home with my youngest alone while husband stayed for 5 extra days. He was able to contact the insurance company while in Spain, who advised him exactly how to proceed. Back home, he sent the claim form off, and we expected to wait a while for contact. Very quickly after that, a total refund of ALL expenses incurred was delivered to us. Amazing!! More amazing is that the following year the policy did NOT increase in price, despite the claim. In fact it had gone DOWN as a loyalty gesture! Would you believe that second year my youngest split her chin open while in the pool in Florida. Her stitches in the local hospital cost a tidy $1500. As usual, easy contact was made and monies arrived promptly on return. Now, the absolute gem with this company is that the following year we DARED to consider renewing our policy, we discovered that there was very little increase and another loyalty discount!! Even when I did a charity trek to the Inca Trail they did not put a premium on my policy, even though we were "treking at altitude", something some companies class as a risk factor. A few years on I have continued renewing our policy with them. Once the curiosity got the better of me and I compared prices on the internet again, but Direct Travel were still, by far, the best. Don't get me wrong.... they DON'T decrease the price each year... they have to increase it due to inflation, but I can heartily recommend their services to anyone. They are fantastic!!! I cannot say a bad thing about them, which is such a rarity about insurance companies nowadays.
