The sound quality is superb. This machine can fill a large school hall with good quality music.
It can also take all types of iPod and even the iPhone (although you do get an error message on your screen. It still works, though.)
The remote control battery doesn't last very long.
I've also stopped using a thousand pounds worth of fairly new stereo component system thanks to this. I get no end of grief from my wife about that...
The Bose Sound Dock review - Once you've got all your music on an iPod, you will need plug-in speakers.
These can range from nasty cheap things that hurt your ears (my daughter's iDog is a good example, but she loves it because she can cuddle it) to the Bose, which tops the range at £200 (or £300 for the excellent portable one.)
And the sound quality is just as good as a decent component system. The only person I know who has been able to tell the difference between my Bose and my system costing five times as much has been a professional recording studio technician.
