I've had mine now for over 18 months, its was my second player after a cyberhome player failed on me, the 551 was given to me at a reduced price and it was slimer and lighter than the 528 cyberhome, although it is wider than needed. the player can handle various type of cdr discs and mpeg file burnt from my PC, playback is good but CAN be improved with a good quality scart cable, not the rubbish you can pick up from the local pound shop, i got mine from the net at £10 each, it also has a hack for RCE removal.
Bad points are that the remote has to point directly at the front panel because the sensor is is recessed from the front panel, the display looks like an old style lit calculators from back in the 80s, there is also a grid of holes right above the drive tray, dust can collect on top and when cleaned will drop on to the tray or disc over time, the system does get warm and generate heat but this is normal as there is ample space for air to circulate. there is no support from the manufacturers site or firmware updates, which would be nice as you cannot remove macrovision
Overall fantastic 5.1 player for its time, mine is still going strong after an internal clean, the whole drive mechanism can be removed and cleaned , remote is cheap and black, silver would have been nice, bit on the large side. 5 stars due lack of support from the makers, do the player justice buy a 5.1 speaker set to realise the full potiential.
