pollifilla's Review of Pets R Wright
1st Apr 2008
Overall Rating
- Value for money

- Quality of service

- Goods purchased & costnil
- Layout of shop

The place was immaculately clean, including all animal pens, but my cynical mind says this has more to do with the positive reflection in sales figures, than for the animals benefit
Bad Points
Just about everything else. No regard for animal welfare whatsoever.
General Comments
Animals kept in sub-standard accomodation for their specific requirements. Nocturnal creatures kept in brightly lit 'boxes' with no hides, parrots kept in enclosures way too small for their requirements and placed inappropriately within the store. Incorrect diets being fed to a variety of species... the list goes on.
I was utterly disgusted, and felt very angry that this place is allowed to trade in livestock, when they quite clearly know so little about the species that they keep needs.

I disagree with this review because... it is, from my experience, factually wrong! Nocturnal animals (such as the leopard geckos, for example) were provided with UV lighting - this is necessary for the animal's survival. Without the radiation that these bulbs give off, the animal would not grow properly. It frustrates me that inappropriate reviews like this are published when, quite clearly, the reviewer has no idea what he/she is talking about!! Anybody with any idea as to reptile care knows the importance of UV lighting!
