General Comments

Such varied reviews of the Acoustic Solutions AV120!

Everyone has individual tastes, I suppose.

It's unlikely that there are irregularities with the manufacturing process with better or worse components being used on different batches.

Personally, I like a bargain (don't we all?) and I usually research to get the best value (but not just the cheapest) gear.

I've been curious that speakers have generally followed the fashion of becoming smaller in design. The 'Hi-Fi salespeople' tell me that multiple smaller drivers offer the same surface area of a single larger cone, but with better response. Sounds like BS to me.

More specifically, these AV120s sound apalling. Despite the fact they cost me about a score (really!) they are not worthy of the space they take-up on my living-room floor. . .

Speaker placement is frequently a pain, but with rear-firing ports these are a pain to place; I do NOT want to be walking around floostanders which sit in the middle of the room. Not that it makes much difference with these -you either get muddy, or swampy bass -and I actually usually LIKE muddy, rather than punchy, bass.

Sorry, but nauseating is the best word I can think of. I have some REALLY budget JPW floorstanders which are half the size, but pure class in comparison to these... monsters.

They look OK.

    OK - if you just want >LOUD< they're fine and good value for money. (God I don't beleive I just said that!). Add a sub or they'll have a prolapse - No, no -really, they're just fine. GNNN..
