Good Points

They have a good pedigree and reputation built over many years and never let me down.


Bad Points

As with many big companies customer service is not as good as it should be and claims take a while to settle.


General Comments

I have been a petplan customer for 13 years (since my best friend was a pup) and for many years they have been excellent. My Labrador recently died but over those years she enjoyed some of the best medical care an animal could get. At 10 years she developed cataracts in both eyes & pet plan covered the costs of having these removed ( 2500+ pounds), the operations were a reasonable success but she soon needed regular expensive medication to keep the eyes "comfortable", to cut a long story short the medication costs per year were about 1500 pounds. To pet plans credit they paid these when claimed for and my premium never exceeded 35 pounds per month. My point is when I really needed the full value of the cover they were there to help.

I know recently customer service is not to previous standards and claim processing times are lengthy (a few months!), just bear in mind other policies may not give you the cover you really need in the longer term.
