Oakwell is a multi-purpose sports development in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England used primarily by Barnsley Football Club for playing their home fixtures, and their reserves.
The modest facilities in the west stand do leave much to be desired, but still remain a popular vantage point with many supporters.
The west stand: The only part of the original stadium that still remains, and despite somewhat restricted views and modest facilities, the west stand remains a popular vantage point for many fans today. Plans for refurbishment were drawn out, however after years of misfortune for the club, and subsequently reduced gates, this proposition is unlikely to go ahead in the near future.
East stand: This large, modern, two tiered structure, built in march 1993 is home to around 7450 home fans, although due recent seasons of low attendances, the stand is rarely fully utilised. The East stand became the first in yorkshire to introduce executive boxes.
The Enterprise PLC Stand: Often referred to as the ponty end or the ORA stand (the name of the old sponsor) this stand offers home supporters with many facilities including the Box office and the Reds Superstore.
The North stand (Away): Home to over 6,000 away supporters, however very rarely utilised. This 4.5m structure has been a cause for debate ever since it opened, however at the time Barnsley FC were planning on a possible return to the premiership.
