General Comments

On arrival The Dragonfly in Newport was extremely busy which usually means a nightmare when dining out! How wrong was I? I was greeted by a Very friendly gentleman who informed us that there was a wait for tables he took our name and informed us that a table for us would take approx 20-30 mins we decided to wait as we were really hungry.
I approached the bar thinking I was going to be in for a long wait but was acknowledged by '2' of the team members with eye contact and a friendly smile and sure enough I was served within 3 mins.
All of a sudden our table was ready I'm sure it was more like 15 mins Or maybe we were enjoying the atmosphere.
We were shown to our table and told we had to order at the bar, but our waitress would do everything else for us from then on and so she did.
The food was great we shared the baked Camembert with toast grapes and fruit chutney to start (delish) for main I had a Stuffed chicken breast served with mashed potato and green beans and my wife had the lamb shank both were of a high standard. Throughout our meal 'Vicky' our waitress was attentive and very knowledgeable (even recommended a wine to compliment our meal). We were both rather full now. We were then presented a blackboard with a list of puddings on and we decided to go for it and share one - The rhubarb and raspberry crumble served with ice cream and custard yes and custard!
Once we were done our waitress brought us our bill and took our payment at the table....we even left a tip which happens rarely in Britain is service here is usually poor.......not in this hidden gem!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed - unpretentious extremely friendly, and great food. We've decide to go again next week.
