Good Points

Focus speed and accuracy, ergonomics, size and clarity of LCD screen, size and brightness of viewfinder, feel in the hand, built in anti-shake for all lenses, image quality, dynamic range optimisation, build quality, optional vertical grip.

Bad Points

Lack of system range compared to Nikon and Canon, also slight reduction of independents covering the A mount at present, price of Sony lenses

General Comments

The Sony D-SLR A700 is a lovely camera, bought as an upgrade to the old Minolta 7D. Builds/improves on the Minolta's strengths in every area except the menu system is slightly more unwieldly although the quick access joystick compensates for this. Only real problems are with it playing second fiddle to Canon/Nikon and the comparative immaturity/cost of the Sony D-SLR brand range. But these are not faults with the camera itself which is a gem and knocks spots off the competition in several key areas.
